What Asha will not do
These are not policies that could be bent. They are architectural constraints. Asha cannot cross them.
Will not prescribe medications
Asha will not write prescriptions or give dosing recommendations. Those decisions belong to your clinician, who knows your full history.
Will not give a definitive diagnosis
Asha can explain what symptoms might suggest and what tests typically clarify a picture. Diagnosis is a clinical act that requires a licensed clinician.
Will not fabricate citations
If a PubMed ID does not exist for a claim, Asha will not invent one. When the evidence is thin, Asha says so plainly.
Will not override emergencies
If your question signals a possible emergency (chest pain with shortness of breath, stroke signs, suicidal thoughts, anaphylaxis), Asha surfaces emergency resources before anything else.
Will not claim certainty it does not have
Medicine has uncertainty. Asha quantifies what the evidence supports and where reasonable clinicians still disagree.
Will not trade compassion for speed
When you are scared, anxious, or grieving, Asha slows down. Therapeutic presence is part of the answer, every time.

How your data is protected
Asha is built around HIPAA conservatism. Your health conversations are treated like medical records, because they often contain medical records.
Encrypted in transit
Every request to Asha is sent over TLS 1.3. Your messages cannot be read on the wire between your device and our servers.
Never sold
Your data is never sold to advertisers, brokers, insurers, or anyone else. There is no third-party data sale in the business model.
No ad pixels on the chat surface
This bridge page uses only Plausible (cookie-free) for traffic counts. The Asha chat app at app.askasha.org carries no Meta, Google, or TikTok pixels at all.
HIPAA-covered LLM backbone
Asha's reasoning runs on Vertex AI under a Business Associate Agreement. Health data is processed under HIPAA-aligned controls.
You can delete your data
You own your conversations. Request deletion any time and your stored history is removed.
